The myth of the 20 minute outdoor wedding ceremony !

Over the years we have seen several surveys that reported that as many as 85 % of the brides interviewed underestimated how long their wedding ceremony would take. Brides were even less accurate estimating the time for outdoor and non church ceremonies.  

In our experience (over 1800 weddings) we can concur with these figures. Most brides miss the mark by a wide margin. The rare exceptions are civil ceremonies with less than 20 guests. Just this morning I was speaking with a bride whose ceremony will be on the beach at Perdido Key, Alabama and she told me, "Oh I don't see you being on the beach any more than 20 to 30 minutes at best." She is expecting over 100 seated guests, and is having an amplified quartet. A singer and possibly 2 readers may be added to this protestant ceremony prior to the ceremony date.
